How did you realize shoppers want to get to know designers on a more personal level?

Erica: Working as a magazine editor, I would see the way that people would connect to stories about makers and their products—and how that experience changed the way they felt about purchasing those pieces. They became more meaningful when they had a story attached and a person involved. I thought that was pretty special. Claire: I think we just recognized that desire in ourselves—and how powerful it was in terms of influencing our consumption habits—that we knew it had to work for others, too.
