CMJ 2014: 10 New Artists To Catch At This Year's Festival

We first saw Juan Waters when he opened up for Mac DeMarco in a small venue in Atlanta, Georgia, and he blew us away with his presence on stage. Juan Wauters and his family left Uruguay in 2000 and moved to a basement in Queens in hopes of finding more positive opportunities. With no friends here in New York, Juan turned to music as solace. He was originally the singer for the Queens-based garage folk band called The Beets, but his solo adventures and history contain a sort of lyrical poetry that has the critics raving.
