2. Patti Smith is performing a private show for Joseph Chetrit and the residents of Hotel Chelsea tonight. Joseph Chetrit purchased the hotel last summer and is in the process of evicting the guests living in the hotel. The residents are questioning both the management and Patti Smith's intention for holding the concert and some are accusing Patti of being a sell-out for performing. [

her website about the show she stated,
"My small performance for the tenants was my own idea. My hope is that we might have a nice evening and the opportunity to communicate directly. My allegiance is to the Hotel itself, and I have done nothing to tarnish it."
