The Bowery Mission aims to serve hungry and homeless New Yorkers and has been doing just that since 1879. Their mission is “To be the most effective provider of compassionate care and life transformation for hurting people in New York City.” Opportunities exist for both individuals and groups, and one of the most convenient ways to give back is by donating your time at the mission to help serve meals. The Bowery Mission serves more than 900 meals per day, and volunteers play an integral part in helping to prepare, serve, organize and clean up during lunch.
