Where you work can be a huge determining factor when looking for an apartment. However, you don't have to find a place exactly in the same neighborhood as your office. Make sure your neighborhood is somewhere you're happy living, not just what's convenient work wise. Just make sure to check your proximity to subway lines, etc. if you're planning on living a little further from the office.
