#5: Socarrat Paella Bar

Socarrat Paella Bar
The Socarrat Paella Bar, with locations in Chelsea and Nolita, is said to have some of the best paella in New York City. In addition to a great selection of paella and fideua (a dish similar to paella but served with noodles instead of rice), Socarrat also has a long list of traditional Spanish tapas and regional wines. Owned by Jesus Manso of La Nacional at the Spanish Benevolent Society and under the direction of Head Chef Felipe Camarillo, Socarrat's menu is reflective of its tagline: "Where simplicity is delicious." The two food gurus make Spanish tapas come alive in this popular Chelsea "cubbyhole," aptly named for its small size. Socarrat Paella Bar, multiple locations [Photo via]
