#7: CALiU Tapas

CALiU Tapas
CALiU Tapas is a West Village hotspot for brunch, lunch, dinner and happy hour (both regular and reverse). Franco Barrio, who previously manned the kitchen at well-known tapas restaurants Casa Mono and Boqueria (both of which are mentioned in this report), opened CALiU as his first solo venture. Things to know: Monday-Wednesday is reverse happy hour (6:00-10:00 pm) and Thursday & Friday is regular happy hour (5:00-7:00 pm), where Sangria ($7) or specialty cocktails ($12) are buy-one-get-one and come with a choice of tapas. Evidently, their housemade lamb bacon is out of this world, as are the butternut squash fritters. CALiU Tapas, 557 Hudson [Photo via]
