All glossy mahogany and plush leather, the new Smyth Tavern is the picture of an upscale Tribeca hot spot - with an artsy twist.

Recently opened by restaurateur John McDonald of Mercer Street Hospitality (Lure Fishbar, Bar Tulix, Hancock St.), the swanky addition to the Smyth Tribeca Hotel serves up timeless American tavern fare with a side of curated artwork from local downtown galleries.

Why not throw a little culture in the mix when snacking on broiled oysters, jumbo shrimp cocktail, lobster mafaldine, dry-aged steak, and what we can already tell is about to become a new cult-favorite, the Smyth Burger (topped with bacon onion jam, American cheese, and some *special sauce*)?

In addition to the luxe interiors and indulgent eats, the spot nods to Old School New York with a cocktail selection that spotlights fresh takes on classic sips, including a Rosé Negroni, Hickory Sour, and signature Smyth Manhattan.

Dinner, drinks, and gallery-worthy artwork? Sounds like the perfect fancy night out to us.
