When people think of well known and nearby vacation/getaway spots in New York, they mostly think of the Hamptons. While the Hamptons are beautiful, relaxing, and the epitome of luxury, it's one of the only commonly mentioned getaways in NY.
LA has many vacation getaways within an hour or two of driving. Orange County, which is less than an hour south of LA, is home to tons of beaches and vacation areas. Newport Beach and Laguna Beach are common parts of Orange County that many Los Angeles natives take advantage of as weekend getaways or even day trips.
