2. The Paris Love Lock Bridge

Pont des Arts BridgeWell, in case you needed another reminder that love ultimately results in destruction (JK, but are we really?), the Pont des Arts footbridge over the Seine (AKA the famous "Love Lock" Bridge of Paris), partially collapsed this week due to the weight of all that romance. While the concept, of course, is admittedly adorable, and has obviously become a tourist tradition, the common sense realization that there's only so much weight a piece of infrastructure like this can handle has been seriously overlooked. Sure, it was only a part of the fence that came down, and luckily no one was hurt, but the incident has prompted even more debate on the safety and aesthetics of the 700,000 padlocks that currently line the bridge.
