Beach Club, Governors Island
If you don't want to venture too far, then you can take a quick ferry ride right to
Governor's Island. A venue to many music festivals and events, Governor's Island is open to the public Saturdays and Sundays from the end of May until mid-September. The Beach Grill serves up hot dogs and hamburgers, and even has beer on tap- the perfect meal for a summer day. Although it is not a beach in the traditional sense, it is still a fun way to spend the afternoon with sand and sun.
