Alex on the Ace Aesthetic
-With their combination of found items, art pieces, and fresh designs, Ace Hotels offer guests a unique experience specific to their location. But don't be fooled, the "hipster" title
wasn't exactly what Alex and his partners were looking for:
"We’re not trying to be a quote-unquote hip hotel, per se."
-On the design of the spaces, Alex has
said,
“We employ that high and low principle in our hotel models.”
-Elaborating on this idea in a 2011 interview with the
New York Times, he stated,
"there’s a lot of the pieces of the puzzle. It is not just an interesting design, it is not just the right choice of typeface, it is not finding the executives or team — it is all these pieces of the puzzle."
