The Sniff

The Sniff
If you're going to start using those fancy-shmancy words to describe a wine, this is the easiest place to start. There are many wine terms used to describe the nose and the notable notes of a wine. This is also what is listed on a wine's label or in a wine review to help indicate which to choose. Do you smell notes of vanilla? chocolate? oak? This is where you can't really mess up the description. If you smell cherries, then it is probably an ingredient. Sommeliers say that they taste wine by noting its aroma, which goes to show you how important the sniff truly is! Rosie Londoner Wine [Photo via]
