Other details: On Saturday, February 21, despite one of the biggest snowstorms of the season, over 250 attendees turned out to the Four Seasons Hotel for the 7th annual Heroes Curing Childhood Cancer Gala. Together, they raised $726,000, the most amount ever raised during this event. The funds will support cutting-edge research in the fight against childhood cancer so that children not only survive cancer, but thrive throughout their lifetime. During the gala, guests were warmly welcomed by Kurt D. Newman, MD, President and CEO of Children's National as they enjoyed cocktails and light fare, while also taking part in the evening's live auction-during which items such as a week in Park City, three nights in Buenos Aires, and an adorable puppy "labradoodle," that were sold in a flash. During the "Call for Cash," over $100,000 was raised in less than 30 minutes. Attendees were also inspired by young survivors of childhood cancer present at the Gala, such as 9-year-old Bennett Younger, who is now thriving.
