Where: Room & Board
What: On October 15th, The Washington, DC chapter of International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA), along with Home & Design Magazine and Room & Board, American-made home furnishings retailer, hosted the Take A Seat Gala and Live Auction at Room & Board raising funds for its 2014 charity theme, Helping Heroes at Home. The challenge, entitled “Take a Seat," enlisted local design professionals, artists, and craftspeople to "up-cycle" ordinary chairs into one-of-a-kind works of art. The event gave the public, IFDA members, and volunteers the opportunity to bid on the chairs as well as a chance to meet the participating designers, including JD Ireland, Marlies Venute, Andrea Olsen, Kristin Peake, Bill Gardner, and more. Will Thomas of FOX 5 News was on hand to MC the auction, whose proceeds will benefit Team Red, White and Blue -- a leading veteran non-profit organization that enriches veterans' lives through community-based physical and social activities. Guests further enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while perusing Room & Board's brand new fourth floor accessories department.
