Other details: Beyonce's #BeyGOOD charitable initiative and STATE Bags - the Brooklyn based company that designs and constructs cool, classic bags all with a social mission at its core - continued their back to school tour with a stop in DC to execute their signature high energy, motivational bag drop rallies for hundreds of kids at Turner Elementary School. STATE PackMen, #BeyGOOD program advisor Ivy McGregor, and DC Alliance of Youth Advocates teamed up on Friday, August 22nd to lift the spirit of hundreds of kids while donating some pretty awesome back-to-school swag. Over 250 STATE bags were delivered to students, as well as hundreds of erasers, rulers, pencils, notebooks, and sharpeners. Instead of stuffing the bags for the kids, STATE instituted the SUPPLY SHOP to allow students to furnish their own packs with all the essentials. STATE's model is to go beyond just a material donation with their unique presentation style, they motivate and inspire kids growing up in communities with high need to beat the odds often stacked against them.
