Stephanie Maida, Marched in NYC

THIS is why I marched. NOT because "my candidate didn't win." NOT because I'm a cry baby. NOT because "I hate men." I marched on Saturday, alongside people of all genders, races, religions, AND POLITICAL ASSOCIATIONS, to show my pride in being a woman. To send our new president, a man who bragged about SEXUAL ASSAULT, a man who promised to reverse a historical win for women everywhere, a man who DOES threaten sovereignty of women's bodies, a man who has NEVER SHOWN RESPECT FOR A WOMAN IN HIS LIFE, a man who promised to be a leader for ALL Americans, a message that if he and his regime DARE to try to take away any of the civil liberties that he boasted he would, HE WILL FACE RESISTANCE. To dissent is PATRIOTIC. Dissent against an oppressive leader is WHAT AMERICA WAS FOUNDED ON. So don't tell me to move to another country, I love America. And so does every other person who marched on Saturday. No matter who you voted for, protecting the voices of your fellow American will show your true values.
