2. Gucci and Guess face off in the court room. Paul Marciano, CEO of Guess, was questioned for four hours on the seemingly similar design of the Guess and Gucci sneakers. In the case building up against Guess, emails were found making several reference to Gucci's fabric and designs. Marciano stated he did not know about the emails, and that he was "embarrassed" by how much the shoes look alike. Guess has a history of "copying" designs, receiving cease-and-desist letters from designers like Jimmy Choo, Yves Saint Laurent, and more recently Derek Lam. Gucci, however, waited 10 years to bring the suit to court. Even more embarrassingly, Gucci's original in-house lawyer has forgotten to renew his bar membership and is unable to practice law at the moment. [Fashionista] - - - - [Gucci: top, Guess: bottom via]
