As Moda Operandi's co-founder and CEO,
Aslaug Magnusdottir is the definition of a boss lady in the business of fashion. She received her MBA from Harvard Business School, an LLM from Duke University School of Law, and was granted a little thing known as a Fulbright Scholarship. Although her background lies in the fields of finance and law where she worked before making the transition into the fashion world, her combination of sheer intelligence and a perceptive eye for trends has earned major cred amongst fashion's elite; she's even referred to as "Fashion's Fairy Godmother" by the
Vogue team.
After testing the waters as VP of Premium Products and Services over at Gilt Groupe for some time with flash sales and working directly with designers worldwide, she saw an opportunity in expanding on this high-end e-commerce shopping trend and wanted to create a way to express runway-fresh looks to the doorsteps of devoted fashionistas. That's when the idea for Moda Operandi began to take shape and the rest is history.
On her own runway splurges this season:
GofG L.A.: Did you place any of your own personal Moda orders this season? What were they?
A.M.: "My biggest splurge of the season (thus far) has to be Prabal Gurung's Multimedia Fur Coat, the ultimate statement piece for fall. As if the coat wasn't enough, I ordered the Linda Farrow Project sunglasses to complete the look."
