Sag Harbor Screens 'Great Directors' By Writer, Director Angela Ismailos

    On Monday night, Sag Harbor was flooded with some of the most renowned from the directing and film making industry during the private screening of the documentary Great Directors, written and directed by Angela Ismailos. Attended by the likes of Jimmy Buffet and Rudy Giuliani, the event scored big out East.

    The movie features film makers Bernardo Bertolucci, David Lynch, Stephen Frears, Agnes Varda, Ken Loach, Liliana Cavani, Todd Haynes, Catherine Breillat, Richard Linklater, and John Sayles discussing both their life and film making experiences.

    Hosts of the event included John Alexander, Sandy Brant, Francesco Clemente, Chuck Close, Lisa Dennison, Beth DeWoody, Leon Falk, Eric Fischl, Terry George, April Gornik, Steven Klein, Michael Mailer, Jay McInerney, Jane Rosenthal, David Salle, and Ingrid Sischy. The screening took place at 7:30 p.m. at the Sag Harbor Theater on Main Street and was followed by a 9:00 p.m. dinner at Paradise Café. The documentary covers everything from how the film makers were first inspired to how they accomplish captivating their audiences in present day. On this, Stephen Frears comments,

    "The actual making of a film is not a particularly complicated process. What makes it interesting is who you are."

    The ever so wonderful Jimmy Buffet was in attendance, as was Rudy Giuliani, Donna Karan, Irving Benson, and Antoine Verglas, who all enjoyed a night of inspiring film and delicious Sag Harbor Dining.
