Why: Nutrition researcher and Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine president Neal Barnard, M.D., will join Mayor Brian Gilbride of Sag Harbor for a “Shop the Nutrition Rainbow” tour at the Sag Harbor Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9:30 to 10 a.m. The event will demonstrate to attendees the powerful health benefits of a diet loaded with colorful fruits and vegetables. Dr. Barnard will be joined by Jennifer Taylor, executive director of the Wellness Foundation, a community-based nonprofit that helps Hamptons-area residents recognize the value of healthful eating. He has also invited the mayor of Sag Harbor, Brian Gilbride, to partake in the community-based event that coincides with National Farmers Market Week.
