For some, the long July 4th weekend out East went on as languidly and luxuriously as it has in years past. For hundreds of others, it served as a chance to chant and continue the momentum of the Black Lives Matter movement.

On Monday, Montauk residents and regulars, including a slew of celebs and society staples like Sienna Miller, Julianne Moore, Christina Lewis, Cynthia Rowley, and Athena Calderone gathered for social justice at the Love at The End rally, which included the first-ever march on Main Street. Led by local organizer and activist Tanish Lindsay, protesters donned T-shirts designed by Frank Frances Studio and NFL art director Kerry Paul (proceeds of which went directly to The Movement for Black Lives) and made their way to the Town Circle, where speakers including minister and middle school teacher Travis Wilkins urged the crowd to dismantle the oppressive systems they take part in.

The call-to-action came after another event organized by Lindsay and local high school grad Ashley Peters saw pushback from businesses and objecting residents, who asked the police to keep protests off Main Street. But as Lindsay told the crowd on Monday, "We have to be loud walking all the way through Main Street because they fought this and we won."
