Last night the founders of the Music To Know festival announced their line up of bands that will be performing at the two day concert in East Hampton in mid-August. Big name indie acts such as Cold War Kids, Matt and Kim, M. Ward, Chromeo, and Ra Ra Riot will be performing alongside headliners pop rock band Vampire Weekend.
Watch as founders Bill Collage and Chris Jones announce their big plans for the festival:
Dan's Papers reported,
“We really made an effort to look for bands that were fun and were in tune with the area and I think we did a good job finding them. All of the bands that we booked are about having a good time and enjoying music. We also chose different bands so that we could appeal to everybody. Everybody in our lineup is really good and we have bands that make sense for both younger and older people,” Bill said.
Some other bands that were also announced were:
Tame Impala Young Empires The Limousines We Are Scientists Francis and The Lights Suddyn The Naked and Famous
Though some locals were upset by the 9,600 concert goers that will descend upon their humble town, the festival coordinators plan to keep tent space open for local food and retail vendors. To further appease and support the local community, MTK has pledged to give $100,000 to East Hampton-based charities payable prior to the festival to ensure the recipients receive the funding. Charities will also be being given space on the sight to promote themselves, encourage further donations and to get people involved. The list of charities to receive the money will be announced soon.
The founders know cool, for what it's worth. Chris Jones is the owner of Sole East Hotel in Montauk, and Bill Collageis a screenwriter.
