Last May, Gurney's announced its third resort, securing a serious foothold over the once sleepy, now trendy Montauk. The property formerly known as The Montauk Yacht Club has since seen an extensive $13 million upgrade, and come this May will definitely shake things up out east. Gurney's Star Island - not to be confused with Gurney's Montauk (though, let's be real, it probably will be) - will feature 107 guest rooms, three pools, a private beach, large event spaces, and THE largest marina in the Hamptons (232 slips!).
Where Scarpetta Beach made Gurney's Montauk a culinary destination, the sure-to-be centerpiece restaurant of this new resort is Showfish. A fine dining seafood restaurant that will serve up brunch and dinner, featuring a hyper-local menu of fish fresh from Gurney's docks, and east end grown produce.
For those in a less formal mood, there will be Il Forno Market (meaning “the oven” in Italian). A grab-and-go spot offering specialty gourmet pizzas, freshly baked goods, and an array of sandwiches and salads.
And for those in a less less formal mood (AKA no shirt, no shoes, just a bikini), there's the Pool Club. A place to pull up a waterfront chaise lounge chair, grab yourself a cocktails and order one of Gurney's famous Siracha lobster rolls.
As a fun, very useful amenity, the property will also offer easy access between all three Gurney’s Resorts, with complimentary shuttle service to and from Gurney’s Montauk, as well as yacht and seaplane service to Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina in Rhode Island.
Rates start at $295 per night, so do yourself a favor, and book your stay before it's inevitably too late!
