You Should Know: Violet Gaynor
Violet Gaynor's got quite the glow about her. Fittingly so, considering the title of her extremely popular and adorably chic editorial venture chronicling the most photogenic mamas on the planet, The Glow. Though spending every summer weekend out in the Hamptons soaking up the sun can't be hurting her in that department either. A lifelong East-End weekender, she more than knows her way around.
Name: Violet Gaynor
Occupation: The Glow Co-Founder/Editorial Director
Place of Birth: Manhattan
Instagram / Twitter: @violetgaynor
Zodiac Sign: Virgo
What do you actually do? I recently left my full-time job as an editor at Instyle to focus full time on my passion project, The Glow, that I cofounded in 2011 with my friend, photographer Kelly Stuart. So nowadays, my day-to-day is filled with surprises as we navigate entrepreneurship. One day we're at a shoot, photographing and interviewing inspiring moms for our site, while others are filled with meetings or sitting in front of a computer writing features. I am the editorial director, which means I create our editorial lineup, select inspiring women to feature, and write all of the copy.
5 Favorite Hamptons Places: Albert's Landing, Mary's Marvelous, Balsam Farms, Crow's Nest, 1770 House (where I got engaged).
The craziest thing I've done out East is... Get married.
Best kept Hamptons secret? Cedar Point. The reward for getting to the end of the hike is the most spectacular ocean view.
If you had one day left out East, what would you do? Sleep in, then walk from our house to Mary's in amagansett for coffee and an eggs Colombian, followed by a swim at Albert's Landing, and a visit to the library with my daughter. Then date night at Highway. At the end of the night, my husband and I would lie out on our deck looking for shooting stars.
Who should we know? Tiina Laakkonen who owns Tiina the Store in amagansett. Her taste is impeccable, and there's a really beautiful energy in her store. We recently finished building our home, and just walking into her carefully curated space provides endless inspiration.
