As mentioned yesterday, the french sportswear line Vicomte Arthur, Lacoste's chicer, more streamlined, and much younger counterpart, is coming to Jobs Lane sometime this August. In 2005, 23 year-old Arthur de Soultrait was asked to design ties for the "Paris 2012 Olympics" delegation, and these ties gave birth to what is now a wildly popular brand with boutiques in Paris, Barcelona, Nantucket, San Tropez, Palm Beach, and now Southampton.

The look is continental preppy -cricket sweaters, striped dress shirts, long and short-sleeved tipped polo shirts and dresses, striped pull-overs, cashmere and wool rugby scarves, slim leather belts, cuff links, and, bien sur, les cravates. I have no idea why VA chose "Bittersweet Symphony" as background music for their commercial, but I think it adds some gravitas, no?
