Mary Quant 2.0: Lisa Perry Hits The Hamptons

by Joseph Russell · May 22, 2008

Those of you who are already popping Xanax at a questionable rate over the prospect of showing up to the Southampton Hospital benefit in the same Tibi frock as your neighbor, her daughter's friend, and her daughter's friend's pomeranian, should make a beeline for Lisa Perry's new eponymous boutique at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor. According to Perry, the clothes (think pop-arty, A-line shifts, cropped, fitted jackets, and skinny trousers) are "geometric, bold and whimsical, combining clean shapes with bright colors to create a simple, chic aesthetic. A modern take on vintage classics..." We're especially fond of the names Perry gives to her creations --a navy and red shift is "Jump," while a kelly green one is "Swing," and a royal blue satin and pink tulle strapless version is "Pouf." Perry also designs some snappy accessories --circular purses with a punched out handle, long rectangular cluches, belted coin purses, all in assorted shades of patent leather. And, if your mod penchant extends to your shingled dwelling, indulge it with pink and white pod chairs and polka-dotted bedding. In addition to Perry originals, shoppers can pick up her favorite lipstick, sunglasses, art and fashion tomes, and vintage jewelry. We'd go just to check out her paper dress collection.
