Where to eat: Nopi

1. Where to Eat: NOPI [Info]
Yumi Matsuo, Rachelle HruskaNOPI, the brainchild of the Ottolenghi team, was one of our favorite spots to eat. We loved it so much we went twice! The Soho based restaurant described as a "brasserie with a twist," serves Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian dishes. Perfect for dining with a group, NOPI has communal tables on the bottom floor and most of the plates are designed to be shared with the table. From the NYTimes: His cooking at his London restaurant, Nopi, and in four gorgeous shops (all called Ottolenghi), is usually thought of and described as broadly Mediterranean, but in fact it’s far more international than that. Not only does he offer out-and-out Asian dishes on the menu; he is also comfortable using soy sauce in what might be thought of as Provençal dishes or hitting tofu with rosemary. What most of the dishes have in common, he says when asked, are “sun” and “intense flavors.” [Photo: GofG Editor Yumi Matsuo and Founder Rachelle Hruska at the Ottolenghi in Notting Hill] Must Try Dishes: The pan-fried duck breast with red quinoa, the crushed beetroot in hazelnuts, and the chocolate halva soil for dessert are three shared dishes you'll definitely want to enjoy alone. Nopi While you're in the neighborhood, and if you don't feel like sitting down for a long meal, it's worth checking out the other (more casual) Ottolenghi restaurants in the city. -13 Motcomb Street, Belgravia: Largely a take-away shop, the menu changes daily here. You can call or email around 11am for the daily selection. And, if you're too hungover to step outside, you can have the food sent over in a taxi. -287 Upper Street, Islington: As the biggest Ottolengi deli, this branch seats around 50 people. Reservations are only taken for dinner, so head their first thing in the morning if you're planning on a weekend brunch. -63 Ledbury Road, Notting Hill: A table at the back seats 10 people, but Notting-hillbillies usually take-out dishes from this deli. Don't forget to check out the bathroom downstairs...Seriously, the bathroom alone is worth the visit. The walls are covered in mirrors, so make sure to take your iPhone and snap a good selfie like @rachellehruska here: Rachelle Hruska [All photos (except instagrams) by @ericrosenfeld for Guest of a Guest] Nopi, 21-22 Warwick Street, London W1B 5NE, +44 (0)20 7494 9584
