7. Where to drink (afternoon tea): The Wolseley [Info]
One of the "must try" things on our London bucket list was relishing in a high tea experience. There is no shortage of places to have afternoon tea in London, and out of the handful of choices (The RItz, Claridge's), we decided to head to The Wolseley on Piccadilly.
A cup of tea still seems to be a cure-all for tourists and Londoners alike, as the tables at The Ritz and Claridge's were all booked up for Sunday afternoon. The Wolseley, located right next to The Ritz, accepts walk-ins and even offers tea service at the cafe bar off to the side of the restaurant.
Our recommendation: Go to the cafe bar for some scones and pastries before heading into the main dining room. Once you're seated, order a few brewed pots of tea to share with the table and make sure to finish the last few sips before the hourglass timer runs out.
Other options for afternoon tea:
-The Ritz [Info]: The Ritz offers five sittings every day, but due to the extreme popularity, you need to book in advance (the site recommends reserving up to 12 weeks prior). Remember, this is the Ritz and strolling in with jeans and sneakers is not acceptable at any time. Make sure to follow The Ritz dress code and wear a jacket and tie in the hotel.
-Claridge's [Info]: Claridge's, the most iconic 5 star hotel in Mayfair, offers four tea times in the Foyer and Reading Room. There's no need for a jacket and tie here, but the dress code does not allow shorts, vests, sportswear, flip flops, ripped jeans, or baseball caps.
