Debra Scacco: The Space Between
Debra Scacco presents her ink, watercolor, and gouche on paper works in her exhibit The Space Between. Scacco explores the past, present and future through her images. The river-like images (shown to the left, with close up above) reflect on the past, in that a river represents memory by its constantly changing nature, and also a reflection of its permanence through the landscapes it forms. The future is depicted through vibrant red images resembling islands. The solidarity and distance of these images shows the uncertainty of the future and how we need to cope with certain aspects of our lives on our own. The past and present is connected by a hanging steel plate in the middle of the room. Meander through Debra Scacco's exhibit at the Marine Contemporary gallery, and you can always stop by Venice beach a few minutes away for a real dip in the waters.
