Danny Heller: City Modernism
Just to let you know, Danny Heller's works at George Billis Gallery are not photos, but created from oil on canvas and panel. Heller's photorealist oil paintings of downtown Los Angeles mid-century modern architecture is a depiction of what he feels is "an endangered architectural culture in California." He wants to capture the cultural history of Los Angeles and help preserve it for future eras. Also incorporating scenes from his childhood and his parents' and grandparents' lives, Heller's artistic skill allowed him to paint the environments in his head that his family didn't capture with a camera. Still skeptical? See how real Heller's paintings get by going to the artist reception for both City Modernism and Nina Tichava's exhibit, Float, this Saturday at George Billis Gallery. Artist Reception: October 19, 2013 (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.) October 19, 2013 - November 16, 2013 George Billis Gallery 2716 S. La Cienega Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90034 [Photos via]
