When I was younger, it seemed like the radio station mega-concert was the coolest thing on the planet. Nowadays you can't throw a bottle of $1,500 champagne in a New York nightclub without hitting a Coachella, EDC, or Bonnaroo, but back in the day, festivals like that only happened once in a blue moon (who remembers Woodstock '94?). So instead, we went to one-day, local radio sponsored concerts in sports stadiums with vaguely nonsensical names like the "River Rave". Well, it's a brave new world (with far superior festivals) these days, but not every radio station is ready to give up just yet. And if the new versions of those old radio station shows can still provide the talent like Power 106's PowerHouse, there's still hope for the classic radio station show yet.
