Both Ke$ha and LMFAO occupy that somewhere-below-pop genre of "party music," which is roughly defined as "music that's not supposed to be good." In other words, when you criticize party music for having no musical merit, no song structure, no melody, or whatever else, you will be told that this is not the point, and that this music is supposed to be bad, but it's fun and harmless and people who listen to it are just trying to have a good time. This is, I believe, the same rationale offered by Charlie Sheen when confronted about his cocaine addiction.
