"Best $2k I Ever Spent!" Some Celebs Come Out Of The Woodwork To Celebrate The Beatles LOVE By Cirque Du Soleil

by Alex Gilman · June 9, 2011

Can you believe it's been five years since the launch of Cirque Du Soleil's Love, the Beatles-themed show? I know, right? It's hard to even picture the Beatles separately from a weird acrobatic sex show at this point. Obviously, this called for a lavish, expensive, self-congratulatory party, so that's exactly what went down last night at the Mirage in Las Vegas.

And either a lot of famous people misread their invitations and thought that George and John were going to be there or else celebrities were just in the mood for a pointless anniversary, because a whole ton of people showed up.

Please keep in mind "celebrities" is a loose term.

Gayle King

Hey look, it's Oprah's right-hand woman, Gayle King. Well, I figure Gayle would use the left hand also, if Oprah asked. Anyway, she's been pretty directionless since the Big O signed off, so you gotta figure she was just wandering down the Vegas Strip on the tail end of a three-day bender, saw the flashbulbs of the red carpet, and just stumbled inside. Hopefully she was able to get some sleep during the performance.

Yoko Ono

I wonder if after the show, Yoko Ono went backstage and planted deep seeds of resentment between the Cirque du Soleil acrobats that will result in their angry breakup as a creative group. You know, for old times' sake?

Mark McGrath

I did mention that most of the "celebrities" in attendance were somewhat borderline, didn't I? The really funny part is, Mark McGrath wasn't even famous five years ago when this show started running. Is he just here for the free food? I know it would be rude to insist that we search his bag before he leaves, but if the silverware from this event turns up at a Vegas pawnshop, I think we have a prime suspect.

Carrot Top

Chris Holmes, Cory Enemy, Elijah Wood, Ana Calderon

Wow, we had to look to the DJ booth to get some real star power. I'm talking of course about L.A.'s own Chris Holmes, Cory Enemy, Ana Calderon, and Elijah Wood, who kind of peaked with The Good Son as far as I'm concerned. Speaking of which, how in the world was Macaulay Culkin not at this event?
