Another sidenote: are we really outsourcing our hip-hop from Canada these days? Canada? Look, I have nothing against Canada; in fact, my hazy memories of trips made to Montreal between ages 16-20 are among my favorites. And I'm not saying Canada's not capable of producing excellent music in just about any genre, either: everything from Drake to Arcade Fire are proof of that. I'm just saying, are we as Americans really ready to concede one of the very few extremely popular things that was actually invented in America in the last 50 years? Once we give away hip-hop, I'm warning you, there's really not much else in the cupboard. It's just "Mad Men" and Doritos Locos Tacos.
