Of course, there was every reason to fear that after the magic of their debut album, The Xx might disappoint in the follow-up by either carbon copying the original album but falling short, and/or attempting some wacky new deviation like adding a rapper and having that explode in their faces. Having now heard Coexist, we can safely and happily say that like all good second albums, the songs are at once familiar and still evolving. In short, you can put it on rotation in your opium den without fear that it will alter the vibe. [via @aprilhuynh, @secretrival]
