Designer Runway Shows Save Disastrous Beverly Hills Fashion Festival

Runway shows by Elie Tahari and a few of his designer friends seem to be the only saving graces of the Beverly Hills Fashion Festival that took place on Saturday. But other than that, it was pretty much and all-around catastrophe with a fancy zip code.

The Beverly Hills Fashion Festival was meant to deliver an international fashion and retail experience, but by all accounts failed to amaze. In her own words, Christy Buena of Disarray Magazine describes the gaffes and difficulties of the problematic event:

"For one, red carpet arrivals were timed too close to show time, leaving photographers scrambling from the red carpet to the riser. We would have also preferred to have two designers showcase their lines back to back, rather than waiting one hour between showings. Second, those seated in their designated seats were asked to move closer to the runway only to be kicked out by attendees who were assigned to sit in the exact spot. Third, it's probably not a good idea to turn the lights off completely while people are still in the process of finding their seats."

Yikes. And that's not even everything. Food trucks, lack of open bar, porta potty trailers, and lame shopping which included "trinket purveyors and designer water coolers" were also factors in this dismal equation. But thanks to the wonderful runway shows of Elie Tahari, Teresa Rosati, H.Lorenzo and William Rast, the entire festival was saved from being a complete failure. Guess not everything's so fabulous in the 90210...
