In yet another pre-Emmy celebrity charity event, famous faces came out for the Art of Elysium's Second Annual Genesis Event on Saturday night at Milk Studios. Guests in attendance included Nicky Hilton, Brad Goreski, Topher Grace, Rose McGowan and Pink. And really, how else are attention-hungry celebs supposed to get an ego stroke around the Emmys if they're not nominated, or even on TV?
While the important ones of the week are at dinner and cocktail parties toasting their Emmy nods, the rest are left to sulk. They're extra needy this time of year and really appreciate a "just because you're not that talented doesn't mean we don't want to see pictures of you or care what you're wearing" reminder, making them a PR celebrity wrangler's dream. Thank goodness the event world is there to jam-pack the week with all kinds of awards ceremonies, charity events, fashion shows, gifting lounges and so on, to lift their spirits and make them forget that no one cares about them this week.
But the Genesis Event had a greater purpose than giving celebs an ego boost: celebrating the stars and emerging talents who have participated in Art of Elysium's efforts to bring art education to children battling serious medical conditions.
Apart from the TY KU cocktails and requisite cupcake tower, guests were treated to musical performances by Butch Walker with Jake Sinclair and Fitz & The Tantrums. Oh, and some new jeans from the "jean bar" courtesy of Paige Denim -- duh! Can't send the celebrity guests home empty-handed!
