Slide #1
Neither the ungodly 55-degree temperatures with showers, nor a trip over the hill could keep the hundreds who swarmed Henry's Tacos from joining the fight to keep it in business on Sunday. The taco stand is a longtime local institution held dear in the hearts of its loyal patrons who have enjoyed its Mexican fare during its 51-year tenure on Moorpark at Tujunga, so recent news of the shutter prompted action.
The semi-impromptu "eat-in" rally was organized by Chris Holmes, along with Aaron Paul, Elijah Wood and Brett Gelman, calling all to join their cause. While Holmes and Adam 12 laid down the party beats with a makeshift DJ station and speakers set up on the roof of a parked car, Gelman, Natasha Leggero, Chelsea Peretti and Johnny Pemberton performed standup for the crowd. George Lopez treated all who arrived by 2pm to tacos while Paul and Wood happily posed for photos with fellow Henry's enthusiasts, fans and even some of that Heisenberg Blue.
We don't know yet whether the overwhelming success of Sunday's rally achieved its goal to keep Henry's Tacos' doors open, but it is wonderful to see our community coming together, rain or shine, for a meaningful cause, even a North Hollywood taco stand.
