Angelenos Get Naked In Public For The Desigual Undie Party In Santa Monica

Thanks to Desigual, the season of public nudity came to head this week when hundreds of Angelenos descended on the Third Street Promenade in nothing but their undies. These nearly naked locals braved the broad daylight to line up at the crack of dawn on the Santa Monica shopping haven, and it was all for the Desigual store opening day Undie Party.

The Spanish apparel brand sure knows how to let a city know they've arrived. Just as they did for Barcelona and New York City, Desigual threw a party with an undies-only dress code in honor of the opening of their Third Street Promenade outpost on Tuesday. Angelenos were invited to line up in front of the store in their skivvies for a chance to score some free duds at the Undie Party on the retailer's inaugural day of business. In a town that enjoys any opportunity to show off its goods for all to see, this was a pretty sweet deal. But don't take it from me—just have a look at ear-to-ear smiles on the stoked crowd of hundreds who came out for this special undie-only occasion.

The first 100 who lined up were given an hour to have the store to themselves and pick out any top and bottom of their choice on the racks, including Desigual's brand new autumn/winter 2011 "Dream" collection. As for the brave souls in line who didn't make the first 100, their undie efforts did not go unrewarded, as they were given 50% off all purchases made on Tuesday. Based on the visible excitement of the Undie Party crowd and all the Desigual shopping bags in-hand, to say the event was swimming success is an understatement.
