Last night a select group of L.A. philanthropists, activists and familiar faces turned out at the Moroccan oasis and Venice Beach home of photographer Philip Dixon for the Shine On Sierra Leone 5th Annual Fundraiser presented by LA Confidential. Hosted by Bill Maher and Selita Ebanks, the event took guests, including Mira Sorvino, Brandon Boyd, and Alessandra Ambrosio, on an adventure to Africa without ever leaving L.A. as they exercised their humanitarian sides.

The intimate evening fundraiser celebrated the kickoff of non-profit Shine On Sierra Leone's BirthRight Healthcare Program. Launched by Selita Ebanks, the new healthcare initiative focuses on providing proper neo/postnatal medical care and treatment of Sierra Leone's mothers and babies. In honor of the program's launch, guests enjoyed a floor-seated classic Moroccan meal of authentic flavors, traditional music entertainment and a powerful discussion with Bill Maher, Selita Ebanks, and the other benefactors who hold the night's cause dear to their hearts.
