Like the most extravagant bar mitzvah one could conceive, you name it, and Billabong's Design for Humanity benefit last night probably had it. Fashion, music and art were the main attractions at the block party held on the streets of NYC off of Melrose. You know, the fake New York city streets lot at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
The night's indulgences were all in the name of charity, with proceeds of the event going to Invisible Children, which helps rebuild schools for war-torn Uganda to provide youth there with an education. Guests enjoyed everything from art auctions and pop-up galleries and food trucks, to a bikini fashion show and a music and light performance by Fischerspooner. Oh, and there was custom t-shirt screen printing (anybody remember the days of t-shirt and boxer spray-painting stations during the bar mitzvah circuit?).
And what Hollywood bash with be complete without multiple DJ sets for good measure? Turntable extraordinaires Kid Sister, Them Jeans and many more made sure there was never any dead air and always the option of dancing at the block party blowout. When party-goers needed to take five, they could just stoop-sit in front of the brownstones.
