Devo & GZA/The Genius Rock The Natural History Museum's 100th Birthday Bash

via @ledeuce7133 The all-day 100th birthday bash had something for everyone, including hands-on activities for the whole family, behind-the-scenes collection tours with NHM scientists, DJs, food trucks and visual spectacles that led to the unveiling of a giant Humboldt fin whale skeleton that had been absent from the museum for nearly four years for restoration. Following the stunning unveiling of the giant fin whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling of the gorgeous new all-glass Otis Booth Pavilion, electric performances by GZA/The Genius of Wu-Tang Clan and DEVO in the outdoor gardens continued the celebration. The Wu-Tang founding member and lover of science was first to take the stage for a set backed by a live band, during which he jumped down into the crowd to rap and used his lyrics to break down the Big Bang Theory. After that, DEVO rocked the house for almost two hours, proving that age has nothing to do with how hard you can party. They delighted the enthused crowd with multiple costume changes, including several of their classic looks amped up for the new generation and a special guest appearance by their character, Booji Boy, looking fly in a farting unicorn shirt. Plus, they got the crowd into a frenzy by tossing out signed hats throughout the set, costume changes, bouncy balls and even Doritos and Lays chips that came out of (ahem) Mark Mothersbaugh's pants. Guess you had to be there, right? All together, it was certainly a worthy celebration for NHM's Centennial Anniversary.
