Have you ever been able to justify dropping some serious coin on a fashion statement with it being an act of charity? Seldom are we able to satisfy our thirst for fashionable items by being devoted philanthropists, but last night the Therapeutic Living Centers for the Blind gave L.A. a golden opportunity to do so at their "Bags to Riches" fundraising event at The Colony.
To serve its mission of providing positive, educational and therapeutic programs for blind and autistic infants and children, TLC drew over 600 guests who walked the red carpet and filled The Colony in Hollywood for a night of drinks, dancing, live and silent auctions of new and celebrity-donated designer handbags at TLC's "Bags to Riches" event. The night's selection was certainly up to snuff for the handbag-enthusiast, featuring pieces from Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Candice, Nicole Lee and Michael Kors to name a few. And with proceeds from the auctions and ticket sales benefiting TLC's Early Intervention Program which helps disabled children become more comfortable at home, in school, and throughout their lives, guests' new bags served a noble purpose aside from making them stylish.
Guests enjoyed a heartfelt speech about how TLC is a cause dear to her heart from soap opera actress Tamara Braun and some words from TLC's Diana Dennis about upcoming projects. In addition to the auctions happening throughout the event, the night also featured hors d’oeuvres from Patina, desserts from Sweet E’s, an open bar sponsored by Patriot Vodka, Coisario Tequila, Nuvo and Vitamin Water, plus jams for dancing courtesy of celebrity DJ Taryn Manning. To top it all off, each guest was gifted goodie bags filled with MAC cosmetics, Bliss Spa products and Popchips.
To say the night was a success would be an understatement. With TLC's "Bags to Riches" fundraising event, a wonderful cause for children was served while making the world a little bit chicer.
