Contrary to popular belief, you do not need a hit rap single and/or a criminal record to enjoy a necklace that spells out your name in diamonds. In fact, some of our most accomplished local bling merchants, like handcrafted jeweler-to-the-stars Jane Basch, specialize more in gorgeous, customized pieces that have graced the necks of decidedly non-gangster stars like Christina Applegate, Demi Moore, and Ashley Tisdale.
At her exclusive trunk show over the weekend at Fred Segal Santa Monica, the designer herself was on hand to show sample pieces and give a full consultation to anyone looking to customize their own Jane Basch design. Over complimentary champagne and catering from Made By Meg, prospective buyers looked over popular items like Jane's Name It Or Claim It necklace, which hit the spotlight when Christina Applegate gushed over the one she had customized with the name of her young daughter. And while the tastefulness of the event meant that, sadly, Gucci Mane never showed up to solicit advice on adding to his jaw-dropping chain collection, those who were in attendance did not seem disappointed.
