Last night contemporary art Guru Larry Gagosian hosted a private dinner and cocktail party with attendees Adrien Brody, Diane von Furstenberg and Steve Martin helping to celebrate a new exhibition of Andreas Gursky's work. Andre Balazs, Hedi Slimane, Stavros Niarchos, Molly Shannon, Brandon Davis, Vera Wang, Tamara Mellon, Louise Grunwald, Bob Colacello, Harvey Weinstein and Jamie Tisch attended the opening party of the exhibit. Gursky - a German visual artist best known for his large scale landscape and industrial photographs - showcased his new work Ocean. For this new work Gursky has turned to a new media of using the photos themselves as a raw material to create a sculptural mappe del mondo.
After the opening, restaurateurs Michael Chow and Eva Chow accompanied the crowd to their popular namesake restaurant for a star-studded evening meal. Joining the festivities were Steve Martin (seemingly calm and collected only 4 days before his Oscar hosting duties!) PC Valmorbida, Vivi Nevo, Russell Simmons, Ron Burkle, Alex von Furstenberg, Stacey Bendet, Lisa Love, Kate Mulleavy, Nadja Swarovski and Peggy Siegal.
