The Center’s CEO Lorri L. Jean was one of the first hosts to energize the crowd, referencing the changing times for the LGBT community and all the advancements women have made in the workplace. Though she noted there is still much for LGBT people and women to gain, she advised, “I think our greatest value is when we act just as we are.” After receiving roaring applause from the audience multiple times, she championed the notion that, “We deserve the freedom to be who we are without apology and without retribution.” The stage was set, the mission established, and the night proceeded to fly by.
