Los Angeles got way more bad-ass yesterday when X Games came to town. Skateboard fans flocked to the Nokia Theater for the X Games 16 Kick-Off Bash Benefitting The V Foundation for Cancer Research and STAPLES Center Foundation to get a first look at skateboard vert practice to see which tricks the riders have up their sleeves. But skaters weren't the only ones getting air; BMX riders also got a chance to ride the giant half pipe and get the onlookers amped for this year's summer games.
The event featured music by KROQ DJs, dinner and dessert, gift bags, a sports memorabilia auction, and autograph opportunities with X Games athletes. Psyched fans came prepared with skating gear in hand for their favorite competitors to sign and were so excited to see Brian Deegan, Rune Glifberg, Tanner Foust, Ashley Fiolek and Mike Mason at the meet and greet. Although some very lucky kids who got to attend may have put a dent in their parents' bank accounts, the experience was worth it and for a great cause.
