Proceeds from the $10 door donations and art sales will go to Direct Relief International (DRI), a group that is working directly with Japan to provide medical assistance to all quake & tsunami victims.
DRI's involvement in the relief efforts thus far include the following:
- Committing an initial $600,000 in support of relief efforts in Japan.
- Along with the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), they have made an initial cash transfer of $400,000 from the jointly established Japan Relief and Recovery Fund to Association for Aid and Relief Japan (AAR Japan), a 31-year-old leading Japanese nonprofit and nongovernmental organization
- Identified and staged $15 million in medical materials for trauma care and infection control from Direct Relief's standing inventory that stands ready to help as appropriate.
