Transmission L.A. Opening Night Featuring Santigold

Why: Not every kickass big time event is happening in the desert this weekend; in fact, tonight marks the start of something just as cool in our own backyard, as a live, free Santigold performance kicks off 17 days of Transmission L.A., our incarnation of the international audio/visual festival curated by a different local icon in each city it visits. Ours is put together by the legendary Mike D and will feature such various awesomeness as the paintings of Will Fowler, the films of Mike Mills, and even a pop-up restaurant from Kogi/A-Frame/Sunny Spot badass Roy Choi. If you want to see Santigold tonight, remember that the Geffen Contemporary is the MOCA location on Central Ave near Little Tokyo (
not the Grand Ave location), and get there early: it's going to be packed.
